The idea
A celebration people talk about.
Family celebrations often follow the same pattern: coffee and cake, a hall, a buffet. That is nice, but rarely surprising. When you bring your guests to a place that few people know, the mood changes. Everyone goes 30 metres underground together, marvels, talks to each other – and returns to the table with stories.
The dripstone cave offers exactly that: a tour for your group alone, with a cave guide who knows the way. Afterwards you celebrate at the Waldhotel Tropfsteinhöhle, a few steps from the exit. The schedule is simple, and you do not have to organise anything yourself.
The effect is especially lovely for parties in which not everyone knows each other well: marvelling together gets conversations going by itself. The older guests tell what they know about the cave, the younger ones ask questions, and over the meal afterwards there is something to talk about for the whole afternoon. If you are planning a celebration that should bring generations together, the cave gives you a programme that leaves nobody out.
Gift
A tour as a gift.
Not every occasion needs a big celebration. For a birthday, Mother’s Day or Christmas, a tour of the cave is a gift that needs no space in the cupboard. Enquiries for vouchers are currently taken by the venue by phone on +49 2262 7920. (provisional, an online voucher will follow)
If you want to give gifts to several people, combine the tour with a meal at the Waldhotel. That turns the gift into a whole afternoon that the recipients can spend together with their family.

What the cave is good for.
Milestone birthday
A 50th, 60th or 70th birthday deserves more than a laid table. A tour of the cave gives the party a highlight that guests will talk about for a long time.
Anniversary and golden wedding
Silver wedding, golden wedding, company anniversary: if you want to give something extraordinary on a special day, the cave is the right setting. On request the venue plans the celebration with you.
Family reunion
When children, parents and grandparents come together, you need something that connects all age groups. A tour with stories, followed by a meal together – that works in the cave.
Class reunion
Pupils of the past, people of today: a shared experience gets conversation going more easily. After the tour there is time for memories at the table.
Christmas party
Clubs, teams and families can think of something special for a Christmas party. The cave is closed in winter; whether and when special tours are possible has to be clarified on request. (provisional)

Options
Tour and celebration from a single source.
The offer consists of two parts that belong together:
- Tour as a private group: your guests get their own time slot in which only they are out and about. The tour takes about 45 minutes. About 25 people can join each tour.
- Celebration at the Waldhotel: afterwards you celebrate in the hotel right at the cave. According to the information so far, up to 150 guests fit in the house. (provisional)
You discuss the menu, buffet, coffee and cake with the Waldhotel. If you wish, overnight stays are also available for guests who do not want to drive home.
Achsenschmiere
The “Achsenschmiere”.
At the deepest point, halfway through, a drink is served: the “Achsenschmiere” (German for “axle grease”). The special tour suits business dinners, birthdays and clubs looking for a special supporting programme.

- Day tour: group ticket, so far at least 10 full-paying people (provisional)

Popular dates at weekends and in summer are taken quickly. Call early so that tour and celebration fit together. (provisional)
Split guests into groups
About 25 people join each tour. For larger celebrations, split the guests into groups that go one after another – that way everyone gets a turn, and those waiting can raise a glass at the Waldhotel.
Take everyone along
The way leads down 26 steps. Guests who cannot go down are well looked after at the Waldhotel. Plan a comfortable get-together upstairs for them.
Announce what to wear
Write in the invitation: warm jacket and sturdy shoes. In the cave it is around 8 °C all year round, even at a summer party.
Plan the journey
Parking at the Waldhotel is free. If you come without a car, take bus line 302 to “Tropfsteinhöhle”. More under Plan your visit.
Add the wildlife park
The wildlife park is right next door, free and open all day. A walk before or after the celebration loosens up the group and gets guests into the fresh air.

Together you decide when your group visits the cave. The tour takes place as a private group.

You discuss the menu or buffet, coffee and cake and, if needed, overnight stays with the Waldhotel.

Experience the tour
Your guests go down 26 steps with the cave guides to the deepest point, 30 metres underground. It is a constant 8 °C.
Step 5
Celebrate at the Waldhotel
Then it is on to the hotel: raise a glass, eat, look at photos and let the day wind down.
The whole visit, tour and celebration together, usually takes half an afternoon to a whole afternoon. Whether coffee and cake, dinner or buffet: the Waldhotel coordinates schedule and food with your tour so that your guests never have to wait. (provisional)

- Warm clothing and sturdy shoes: it is around 8 °C all year round.
- The way in leads down 26 steps, and the cave is not accessible for wheelchair users. For guests with walking difficulties please call in advance.
- Tours start punctually; latecomers cannot join.

Can you eat and drink in the cave?
A drink is served at the deepest point on the Achsenschmiere tour. Food is served in the Waldhotel restaurant right next door. A buffet in the cave is not planned.
Is a celebration possible in winter?
The cave is closed in winter. Whether and when special tours for Christmas parties are possible still has to be clarified. The Waldhotel will celebrate with you even without the cave.
